BLUE
RIBBON DESIGNS NEWSLETTER
May 1,
2008
Greetings
friends, fellow needleworkers, and new subscribers ~ it's time for the May
newsletter!
May is quickly
upon us and it looks as if spring has FINALLY started to arrive. It is a beautiful
day here in West Des Moines, Iowa; the sun is trying to shine, there is a
light breeze, and everything is starting to turn green. I am ready to get
outside and enjoy this lovely weather (before more thunderstorms hit later
toady), so let's get right to the news for this month!
NEW RELEASES:
If all goes
as planned, there will be four new releases for June (Columbus NeedleArts
Market): "Proud and True", "A Little Quakeresque", "Celebration
Wishes", and "Good Karma". I am just finishing up the details
and waiting for the fourth piece to return from my framer….if the fourth
piece ("Good Karma") is framed on time, all four designs will go
into printing production next week. Keep an eye on the website for more details
- I will post release dates and specific information as soon as it is available.
For those of you who haven't had a chance to check out your favorite needlework
shop lately, there were four (yes, FOUR) new designs for February: "Small
Tokens of Affection", "Letters, Leprechauns, and Luck", "Black
Velvet Inscription Sampler", and "Bunnies and Blooms".
Details/photos of all four of these releases can be viewed on the "Designs"
page of my website.

FUTURE:
I am busy working
on designs for autumn/fall 2008. On the stitching board are "Alphabet
Zoo"…some more needlework smalls...a couple Halloween treats…I
even have my Christmas ideas ready for charting! My sketch book is full of
ideas that will be keeping me busy. A preview photo has been posted of "Good
Karma" (a peacock sampler)…and the "Celebration Wishes"
ornament models are stitched - I will be doing finishing work later today
(look for a photo soon!). Additional sneak peek photos/details/dates will
be posted when I have more to share.

SOMETHING
SPECIAL UPDATES - NOTEWORTHY NEWS:
-
I have been hard at
work on details for several trunk shows in 2008. As many of you are aware,
this is something I rarely do...so these will be some extra special events.
More details will be listed as they become available. I hope you will be
able to visit my models while they are on the road!
If you will be
in the New Jersey area in the next few weeks, make sure to stop by Where
Victoria's Angels Stitch (http://www.wvas.net)
in Northern New Jersey, where fifteen models are currently on display.
The
second show I can share with you is being sponsored by Stitcher's Express
in Mattoon, IL (http://www.stitchersxpress.com).
They will have ten of my models in their merchandise marketplace booth at
the Rockome Gardens National Counted Cross Stitch Show in Arcola, IL. The
dates of this special show are June 6 through June 15, 2008.

"With All Your
Heart", my project exclusive to Elegant Stitch & the Susan G. Komen
Foundation is still available. This is a complete kit (minus the stuffing)
and is available from Elegant Stitch (http://www.elegantstitch.com)
with all proceeds going to breast cancer education and awareness. Shops
that order from the distributor Norden Crafts currently have the ability
to purchase this kit for their customers; however, we can not ensure their
proceeds (profits) will go towards fighting breast cancer. If you would
like to order from a different shop (other than Elegant Stitch), I encourage
you to make sure the profit made on this kit is being donated to breast
cancer education and awareness. Together, we can all make a difference.

MAGAZINES:
Exciting news!! Blue Ribbon
Designs will be featured in the in the July/August Just CrossStich Ornament
Preview Issue. This year I designed two special ornaments - one for the ornament
preview issue and one for the always popular Just CrossStitch Ornament Issue.
These two ornaments compliment each other and will go nicely with previously
released designs. If you are a fan of my Christmas ornaments, these two magazine
designs will not disappoint! Keep an eye out for these magazine releases later
this year…

GALLERY:
There are a BUNCH
of new additions to the gallery this month by some very talented needleworkers…as
usual, I am blown away by your creativity! Recently the needleworkers at the
Jayne's Attic Stitch & Stash Forum used one of my retired complimentary
patterns for their monthly stitching challenge...and the results were amazing...what
a gifted group of stitchers (and finishers) - you have to see these pictures!
Remember to send me your photos when you finish a Blue Ribbon Designs project
- I would love to post them in the website "Gallery". I always enjoy
seeing your interpretations of my designs - don’t be shy - keep those
pictures coming!!

COMPLIMENTARY
CHART:
After seeing all of the creative ideas from the stitchers at the Jayne's Attic
Stitch & Stash forum...and sharing their creativity with you...I have
decided to bring the "Alphabet Tree" complimentary pattern out of
retirement until at least June 1st - this will give everyone a second chance
to get a copy of this retired design. Visit the "Freebie" website
page to obtain the chart….and make sure to check out the "Gallery"
to see some photos that will (no doubt) inspire you to stitch your own "Alphabet
Tree"!

encouragement. Take a little time to count your blessings…and a little
time to stitch…
