Greetings friends, fellow needleworkers, and new subscribers ~ welcome to the March newsletter!
I know it seems like I just sent the February newsletter, but I am getting back on track...and I am happy to be sending the March newsletter on 1st, as scheduled!
After a couple crazy weeks of layouts, printing, bagging, and packaging....my three new designs have finally shipped to shops and distributors...and you should be able to find them at your favorite needlework shop. I am so thrilled with these designs...and I thank you for all the compliments you have sent my way. More on these new designs in a moment...
If you visited my blog in February, you got to see photos of my grandmother's needlework (I am so thrilled to have these treasures!), a project I started in February of 2006 (that is still not completed - which is so unlike me), and some artistic works by my extremely talented friends. To see what I am doing during the month and be eligible for my future giveaways and contests, stop by: http://blueribbondesigns.blogspot.com/.
I continue to have fun with many of you on Twitter...I enjoy reading about what you are doing and following your links...seeing your blogs and finishes...looking at your Etsy shops...answering your questions...plus, you are the first to hear what is happening with Blue Ribbon Designs!

Let's get started with the news for March...sit back and enjoy...

What's New?!
These three new releases for February have shipped to shops and distributors...and should be available from you favorite needlework shop this week...
Sweet Songs of Spring
A springtime sampler with a matching set of four needlework smalls. Package contains charting for each of the five pieces, stitching instructions, complete finishing instructions for the needlework smalls, and an alphabet/numbers for personalization.
Click on the photo for enlarged images, supplies, and specifics.

In My Heart
A springtime/heart scene sampler. Package contains charting for the sampler and complete finishing instructions for making each square into an ornament/scissor fob/hook hanger (backed by your choice of linen or matching fabric).
Click on the photo for enlarged images, supplies, and specifics.
Schoolgirl Samplings
A sampler, octagon-shaped needlework box, and matching set of three needlework smalls. Package contains charting for each of the five pieces, stitching instructions, complete finishing instructions for the octagon box and three needlework smalls, and an alphabet/numbers for personalization. Needlework smalls include a needlebook, pin pillow and scissor fob.
The idea (coordinating with my original verse) is the outside of the box and front of the needlework smalls is "land" (stitched on 32-count Strawflower) and the inside of the box and the back of the needlework smalls is "sea" (stitched on 32-count Sea Storm). In the sampler, the "land" is the center octagon and each of the four corners represents "sea".

Now that the new releases are printed, packaged, and shipped, I will be working on all new design ideas...there will be some great summer and autumn charts heading your way later in the year! I also have a new needlework smalls concept that I am trying to make a reality...there will be more details on this in the coming months. Stay tuned to the "Future" page of the website for details as they become available...

TEACHING:
I am excited to announce I will be teaching at the first New England Stitchers' Retreat in May 2010! This event is being held at The Enfield Shaker Museum in New Hampshire with accommodation provided within the historical Great Stone Dwelling House...and to go along with the theme of the event, I have designed a special stitched piece titled "Beauty In Simplicity" to fit the lid of an oval shaker box and several matching accessories (seen below). This is sure to be a fabulous event (complete with a Tea Party and a "Shop Til You Drop" event at ABC Stitch Therapy) - to read all about it and/or register, visit: http://www.stitchingretreat.com
I have also been invited to teach at Stitcher's Hideaway Needlework Retreats in Mystic, CT in 2010! How totally awesome is that?! I designed a holiday/Christmas piece (with matching ornaments) for this fall retreat that will take place in October. This class design is called "Pocketful of Peppermint" (shown below). For more details and/or to register for the retreat (which is filling up FAST!) visit the Stitcher's Hideaway website....

I have had several other teaching inquiries for 2010..and will keep you posted as new dates are decided!
SYHO (Stitch Your Heart Out):
I am thrilled to announce I am one of the twelve designers participating in the SYHO Designer Encyclopedia. Each month for 12 months (starting in February 2010) a fun, new design will be released by a different designer...there will be interviews, interactive games, fun LNS stitch nights, prizes, heart healthy recipes and much much more - my design will be number three in the series (April 2010) and is titled "Established With Love"! Once you have stitched all 12 designs, you will receive FREE instructions on how to assemble the 12 designs into a stitched "designer encyclopedia". Gallery
Be sure to check out the Blue Ribbon Designs Gallery this month for inspiration from fellow needleworkers.....like the one pictured on the right ("Bluebirds and Daisies" ~ Stitched by Sally from the UK ~ Sally finished this complimentary design as a little pincushion with a ruched ribbon edge)! The gallery features photos from needleworkers all over the world that have stitched their favorite Blue Ribbon Designs. You will see creative and fun finishing ideas...color changes...fabulous framing...and some beautiful stitching! Remember to send me your photos when you complete a Blue Ribbon Designs project - I always enjoy hearing from fellow needleworkers and I would love to "show off" your work in the website "Gallery".... |
That about does it for the news this month - keep your eye on my website for the latest information. Thank you for you continued support of Blue Ribbon Designs!
