Design Specifics and Materials
The idea (coordinating with my original verse) is the outside of the box and front of the needlework smalls is "land" (stitched on 32-count Strawflower) and the inside of the box and the back of the needlework smalls is "sea" (stitched on 32-count Sea Storm).
In the sampler, the "land" is the center octagon and each of the four corners represents "sea".
